What is Epithalon?

Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide — just four amino acids — originally derived from bovine pineal gland extract by researchers at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation. It has been studied primarily for two properties: the ability to activate telomerase in somatic human cells (leading to telomere elongation in laboratory studies), and modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-pineal axis, normalizing melatonin and cortisol rhythms in aged research subjects. It has one of the longest longevity research records of any peptide compound — dating back to the 1970s.
