Both are GHRH analogues. Sermorelin is the natural 1–29 sequence with short half-life (~12 min). CJC-1295 (no DAC) adds modifications that extend half-life to ~30 minutes. CJC-1295 with DAC extends further to several days via albumin binding. Sermorelin is the closest to endogenous GHRH in structure and kinetics.

It operates differently — stimulating the pituitary to produce its own GH rather than providing exogenous GH. Research in adults with GH insufficiency has demonstrated increased endogenous GH secretion, but the response depends on intact pituitary somatotroph function.

Somatopause refers to the age-related decline in GH secretion that begins around age 30 and accelerates with aging. Research has examined whether GHRH analogues like Sermorelin can attenuate this decline by stimulating the pituitary — which typically retains some secretory capacity even in aging — rather than using exogenous GH replacement.
